Hypnosis and Meditation:
What Do They Have In Common?

Mindfulness and Hypnosis:
The Power of Suggestion to Transform Experience

By Michael Yapko, PhD / Copyright 2011, W.W. Norton - Book review

In Mindfulness and Hypnosis, psychologist and hypnotherapy expert, Michael Yapko, explores the similarities between mindfulness meditation and hypnosis, arriving at the conclusion that both transform experience through the power of suggestion.  Neuroscience has shown that both hypnosis and meditation bring about similar neurological changes. Behavioral research shows that both calm anxiety, reduce pain, facilitate healing, and support adaptive behavior.

The suggestions in mindfulness meditation are about awareness and nonjudgmental acceptance.  The suggestions in hypnosis are about specific behavioral/emotional outcomes achieved by accessing one's inner resources.

I like reading your post. Share some inspirational thoughts next time, that could be a great way to encourage readers. Doing such is like a hypnotherapy in london where a great help and encouragement can be shared. See this for more information.

I'm impressed.Seldom do I come across a blog that's both equally educative and engaging, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something which too few people are speaking intelligently about. Now I'm very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt for something concerning this.I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Hypnosis is very similar to the state we are in in meditation, yoga, martial arts, when we experience that zen state of "No Mind". we are in a state of Theta brain waves or drifting between Alpha and Theta. Alpha being very deeply relaxed. Theta being so deeply relaxed we sometimes lose the sense of our physical surrounding and the noises in the immediate environment. Our minds drift into the blank state that we are looking for in meditation. I find hypnosis an easier way to achieve that state of mind.
